LED VS Halogen Lights

One of the most popular energy-saving technologies, LED lights use less power than their counterparts. They also help keep your indoor air clean by reducing chemical compounds from entering it as they emit no heat or pollution:

  • Better for the environment,
  • Create crisp, vibrant colors in your home with our LED,
  • Lower cost of power when you switch from halogens to LEDs,
  • Longer life span lasting up to 10 years,10 times longer than halogen.
  • Built for instantaneous lighting,
  • No UV radiations or mercury emissions,
  • Significantly lower heat output compared to halogens.

If you want the best of your LED downlight, then this is what needs to be done.

Why is LED Downlight better than Halogen Downlight

LED downlights have been around for a while now, and thankfully they are the saviors of those who had energy saving problems. Halogen bulbs use crazy amounts of electricity in comparison with LED lights which consume just 5 watts but produce as much light!

The lifespan of a downlight is usually 5 years, but with LED lights it can be up to 15. With halogen lamps you have the choice between 50 or 100 watts which translates into one hour and forty-five minutes respectively before they need replacing.

Halogen downlights are a great way to bring light into your home, but if they’re not installed properly or aren’t ventilated enough then the heat from these lights can start fires. They run at 300 degrees Celsius. All lights should have some sort type protective heating guard fitted so as prevent accidents caused from improper installation.

You don’t need to worry about all these if you use LED downlights.

LED bulbs don’t produce any heat which means that they can be used in places where there is no or little ventilation. They also last longer than their counterparts without having to worry about burning out anytime soon.

Imagine if you had six 300-degree Celsius bulbs in one room. You would be living on the hottest day of summer, and it would feel like an oven inside.

LEDs lights provide a safe alternative to halogens and can be used in any application without having the risk of migrating toxic mercury. They also last longer than traditional bulbs, which is important for those who are constantly on-the go like me!

A lot has changed since I first heard about how great LEDs were when they came out as an energy efficient replacement back then.

5 Typical Advantages of LED Downlights

LED Downlights are Long Lifespan:

LED downlights have been shown to last up until 50,000 hours. This means that your investment in an LED light will not only pay off with a long lifespan but also provide bright and economical lighting for years on end!

LED downlights are more efficient than traditional bulbs.

A single LED light uses 80% less electricity to produce the same amount of illumination, so they’re a great choice for homes with higher energy costs or that need an eco-friendly upgrade!

LED downlights are the way to go for those who care about our environment.

These lights produce less CO2 emissions and can save you up 25 inefficient incandescent bulbs! They also make recycling easier because one LED bulb contains materials that would otherwise need production in order fulfill demand, which is how these Items ended up at landfills after being used once

LED downlights are a great way to provide flexible design solutions.

They can be used in many different applications and offer increased safety with their ability not only illuminate but also detect motion, preventing them from turning off when there’s no activity happening within range!

LED downlights is that they’re low maintenance.

You don’t have to worry as much when your home’s lights go out at night or during a power outage because these energy efficient alternatives will never stop working no matter what!

10 Factors Affecting Choose Downlights

1. Brightness level

The brightness level of the light in your home is one thing that needs to be considered. It’s not just about how much wattage a bulb has, but also its lumen count (or lumens). Lumen numbers are important because they relate directly with things like glare and sensitivity for people who suffer from seasonal affective disorder (SAD).

When shopping for a new downlight, you may be wondering what the difference between watts and lumens is. Watts measures how much energy burned to produce light while lumen output tells us its brightness in terms of visible spectrum – which means that led lights are more efficient than older fluorescent or halogen varieties!

For example, a modern 12W LED downlight is equivalent to 24W CFL or 55Ws halogen light even though they all generate the same amount of brightness.

This means that if you have an existing Halogens and/or Compactfluorescent Lamp (CFL) bulbs in your home then upgrading them with more energy efficient alternatives such as LEDs would be a smart decision for both your wallet and environment!

2. Color temperature

The color of light can be cool or warm. Color temperature refers to the Kelvin, which is measured in degrees above absolute zero and affects how much blue a given source produces (cooler colors have more bluish tones).

Warm white lights give off warmer hues that make people feel relaxed while giving your home an inviting atmosphere; Cool white lights, it’s also recommended for offices where workers need some energy boost during long days at their desks.

Warm white=<4000K

Neutral white=around 4000K

Cool white=>5000K

3. Color Rendering Index(CRI)

If you have ever been in a room with poorly colored lights, they can make things look outdated and drab. Some light sources are better than others at revealing colors naturally or accurately according to their CRI rating, which measures how much coloration is revealed when compared against an ideal source of natural sunlight measured on various spectrums from UV-visible range all the way up into infrared wavelengths.

This means that while high CRIs will bring out super saturated hues such as those found within summertime vegetables dried outside under direct sun exposure; Low CRIs may instead dull.

4. Dimming or Non-Dimming

The dimming feature is very useful whenever the surrounding lighting has a strong effect on our entertainment or relaxation experience. The downlight gives us flexibility to turn it up when needed and reduce its brightness for more comfortable viewing environments, such as in theaters before movies start playing!

5. Fixed or Tilting

Now that you’ve decided what type of light fixtures will best suit your needs, it’s time to choose between fixed or tilting.

Tilt lights allow for adjustment in direction which is useful when trying to illuminate specific areas such as kitchens and bathrooms without having excess glare on other parts of the room due lighting being too low contrast compared with its surroundings; however this isn’t always possible because some types need large spaces so they can reach their full potential while others may only require small corners where upwards momentum won’t cause any problems even though these might not look quite right otherwise!

Many people want to be able adjust the direction of their light, which is very useful for task lighting such as kitchen and bathroom areas. Otherwise they prefer a fixed frame that provides general purpose illumination.

If you only need fixed downlights when it is cost-effective, then by all means buy them. Otherwise stick to fixed lighting solutions for a more affordable price!

6. IP(ingree protection) Ratings

IP ratings are important when purchasing lights because they determine how well your downlights protect you from outside elements.

If the area where these fixtures will be installed has access to water or dust, then it needs at least an IP44 rated protection level for solids and liquids- which means that any minimal amount of ingress (in this case liquid) must not penetrate more than 1mm into its structure before switching off automatically!

7. Beam Angle

The beam angle of a light source refers to the spread or direction in which its rays are projected. Downlights with wide angles create wider, softer lighting that’s perfect for general ambient room decoration.

While those featuring narrow beams offer sharper concentrated sources ideal when used as spotlights.

Wide beam angle>=60 degrees,
Narrow beam angle<=60 degrees.

For general lighting, we recommend choosing downlights with a wide beam angle.

For Spotlighting purposes narrow light sources.

8. Build Quality

What does it take to build quality?

Downlights are an important part of any home and business. When you buy them, the materials used have a real world impact on performance and durability – but what do they really look like under microscope-level inspection from afar?

The answer: “You get what you pay for.” Like many things in life, this case can also be made using only one simple acronym (WAF) which stands for weight against force; meaning how much pressure or stress will your product withstand before failing.

The quality of a downlight’s frame and heatsink are two important factors that determine how well it will perform. For example, cheaper lights often have plastic frames with poorly designed cooling systems which can quickly Overheat or fail due to excessive heat exposure (especially if they’re used in high traffic areas). In contrast aluminum is much more durable as well as reliable.

LED drivers are a key component in downlight manufacturing. They’re not only more durable but they also last longer than other types of lights with built-in LED driver. And the isolated driver is better than a non-isolated one because it does not have any wires or magnets that could interfere with the signals from your car’s dashboard.

Diffusers are a key component in the quality of light fixtures. They help spread out and diffuse any harsh shadows from your subject so you can get an even background for simpler editing purposes, which will make it easier to achieve that professional look with ease!
“diffusing something means making its brightness less intense or concentrated.” In photography this usually refers not only about how much material fills up space but also applies on what kind: whether via air gaps between particles as seen when shooting through misty water

You may be wondering what makes a good downlight. Well, it’s all about the quality of materials used and how they affect performance! When you buy from us at VLED-VELUX, we will make sure that your light has only top-quality components so there’s no risk in terms of durability or reliability for our customers who want nothing but excellence from their purchases every day.

9. IC (Insulation Contact) Rating

Insulation Contact.

Icy Conditions: Downlight installation can be tricky when the insulation is your building’s best friend, but not its foe! The “IC” rating system helps determine if a downlight will work under such conditions or not, most Australian,New Zealand, United Kingdom and UAS homes these days are protected by at least one layer of it indoors and outdoors; this makes sure you don’t have an excess electricity bill either way due to unwanted heat loss through windows during winter months (or worse yet cold air coming into places where people spend most their time).

10. Warranty

One of the most important things to consider when buying downlights is their warranty. Make sure that you get a long-lasting product with as long as possible warranty.

All of our products come with a minimum 3-year warranty and are eligible for 5 or 10 year extended warranties.
