Although many works focus on cutting-edge artificial intelligence and smart technology, refreshing low-tech product designs have also appeared. Among the award-winning works in almost all categories, the focus on sustainability and the reduction of energy and material use is also becoming more and more obvious. In short, the quality of design works submitted in Asia, Europe, America and other parts of the world has been continuously improving.
Let’s take a look at which lighting design works have won iF awards.
Airluna/Air Purification Lamp
Design: ASA Innovation & Technology Limited (Hong Kong, China)
Client/Manufacturer: ASA Innovation & Technology Limited

As an air purification lamp, Airluna is equipped with patented PACO nanotechnology, which can inactivate 99.9% of viruses. The device can also decompose molecules and odors of harmful chemicals into harmless elements. The Airluna app allows users to remotely control and monitor indoor air quality. Other benefits include Airluna’s space-saving design and modern shape elements, as well as the clever use of airflow to reduce the heat of the LED, thereby effectively extending its service life.
Award-winning comment: The Airluna lamp elegantly solves the current problem of many people: how to ensure clean air during the global pandemic. This lamp makes the bulky standalone air purifier obsolete and reduces trouble and waste through filterless air purification technology.

Lámina/ lighting
Design: Antoni Arola (Barcelona, Spain)
Client/Manufacturer: Santa & Cole (Barcelona, Spain)

A beam of light and a thin metal plate will produce a soft and effective diffusion. Lámina uses the advantages of reflected light to display shadows and beams in simple, clean lines. With beautiful curves and soft light, this chandelier is a combination of poetry and practicality: creating soft and pleasant light without glare.
Award-winning comment: Lámina is poetic and pure, and achieves the greatest aesthetic effect by reducing the design language to a minimum.
